New challenge: GRE writing

motivation

GRE is a sort of exam that proves an aspect of your competency as a graduate school applicant. High score means the higher chance for the scholarship opportunity ($22,000 annual stipend and tuition waiver).

Reading through an example essay that received the score of 5.0, the evaluation seems quite tolerant to logical flaws. I have a real issue converting bullet points to a paragraph so that’s something I will put my efforts in for this project.

Science and technology will one day be able to solve all of society’s problems.

my thoughts

  • problems are defined only under a certain morality.
  • morality is considered independent from objective truth, regardless of its existence.
  • controlling the morality of somebody else for their own good is therefore cannot be justified.
  • there exists at least one pair of community where morality collides for a certain decision making.
  • therefore, science and technology cannot deterministically solve all of society’s problems; solving a problem will create another follow-up problems.
